VISTA, Calif. -- The Cal State women's golf team took on one of the toughest fields the program has ever faced this week at the Cal State San Marcos Fujikura Invitational, held at Shadowridge Country Club in Vista, Calif.Â
The Pioneers finished in 17th place with a total of 650 (+74), after stumbling to a 334 score in the opening round. The team bounced back on Tuesday and carded 316, which was 11th-best in the field, but wasn't enough to pull East Bay up the leaderboard.
No. 4 Barry won the tournament running away at 10 strokes over par. They were one of 13 teams in the field ranked in the top 50 in the nation according to Golfstat. That group included each of the top six teams in the most recent Division II coaches poll.Â
Carolin Chang was the top individual for East Bay, earning a share of 44th place with back-to-back rounds of 79 (+7). CSUEB;'s low round of the tournament came Tuesday thanks to
Vivian Yen, who bounced back after a tough first round to fire a 75 (+3).
Below are CSUEB's final scores. After a week off, the team will travel across the country to face another field loaded with nationally ranked teams at the Barry Invitational in Miami, Fla.
