ROHNERT PARK, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team finished 6th out of 13 schools at the Sonoma State Fall Invitational at Foxtail Golf Club. This was CSUEB's highest finish of the season so far.
The Pioneers shot 620 as a team after compiling a 303 in the opening round and completing the tournament by shooting a 317 in the final round.
Sophomore
Drishti Karumbaya followed up her CCAA Golfer of the Week nomination by notching a top 15 finish. Karumbaya finished the SSU Invitational by shooting a 153 total which was good to tie for 15th. She shot a 78 in the opening round and followed with a 75 in the final round to lead the Pioneers.
Freshman
Alexis Esgeurra and junior
Sachika Singh both tallied a 154 total to tie for 17th place.
Esgeurra paced East Bay by shooting a team-best 72 in the opening round and then Esgeurra fired a 75 in the final round. Singh started strong with a 73 in the first round before returning to shot an 81 in the last round of the tournament.
Junior
Jojo Roecker turned in a 160 total for the tournament which was tied for 44th. Roecker finished with an 81 one in the first round before shooting a 79 in the final round.
Senior
Mikia Fang logged a 56th place finish for the Pioneers. Fang totaled a 166 after recording an 80 in the first round and compiling an 86 in the last round.
East Bay will look to capitalize on this momentum as they travel to Carlsbad, Calif., to take on some of the better teams on the West Coast at the Division II West Region Preview taking place October 20-22.
