HAYWARD, Calif. -- The No. 24 ranked Cal State East Bay swim team competes in its final two home meets of the season this week, hosting a pair of Division I opponents for duals at Pioneer Pool.

The Pioneers race San Jose State on Friday at 1 p.m., the return to the water the following afternoon to celebrate Senior Day prior to a showdown with Nevada at 2 p.m. Weather permitting, both contests are scheduled to be streamed live on the Pioneer Sports Network.

CSUEB is coming off a strong effort in a dual victory last Saturday over conference rival Azusa Pacific. The squad seemed excited to be back racing in Pioneer Pool for the first time in three months, winning eight of the 11 events against the Cougars. Junior Allie Klinger was named CSUEB Female Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after capturing victories in the 50 Free and 100 Free, as well as anchoring the first-place 200 Medley Relay.

Saturday afternoon will be the final home meet for the team's six seniors, five of whom have been here all four years of their careers. Laurel Carpenter, Vivy Hua, Maddie Hulse, Miranda McDonnell, Jande Monteon, and Ryleigh Weight have contributed to three straight top-3 finishes for the Pioneers at conference championships, and all six will have significant roles to play as the team to reach even higher in 2018-19.

Going forward, CSUEB has one additional regular season meet on its schedule, a dual next Saturday, Jan. 26, on the road against No. 18 Fresno Pacific. After racing strong Division I competition this week, that meet should be an exciting matchup with the Sunbirds looming as East Bay's top competition at next month's PCSC Championships.
