TURLOCK, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's track and field team tabbed an 8th place finish at the annual California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships hosted by Stanislaus State, May 3-5 at Warrior Stadium.
The Pioneers were well represented in the 10,000m event as a trio of East Bay runners finished right after one another. Sophomore
Pedro Cruz (Arvin, Calif.) paced CSUEB with a 9th place finish in a time of 32:57.29. Freshman
Luke Calubayan (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) notched a top-10 finish with a time of 33:44.19. Senior
Zach Kanlong (Twentynine Palms, Calif.) followed with time of 34:12.77, good for 11th place. Junior
Esteban Leon (Oxnard, Calif.) notched a 13th place in the event in a time of 34:50.91.
Sophomore
Jeremy Shaw (Milpitas, Calif.) logged an 11th place finish in the 800m event in a time of 1:57.19.
Israel Sotelo (Porterville, Calif.) placed 13th in the event in a time of 1:59.90.
Junior
Ronaldo Flores (Port Huenme, Calif.) was the lone Pioneer in the 1500m event clocking a 18th place finish in the preliminary run at a time of 4:41.78.
East Bay had two relay team secure top-8 finishes in their relay events. The 4x100m relay team of
Jared Johnson (Los Altos, Calif.),
Brett Fuchs (Folsom, Calif.),
Argenis Torres (Patterson, Calif.) and
Keith Moreno (Maywood, Calif.) finished 7th in a time of 49.22.
The 4x400m team of
Israel Sotelo,
Ronaldo Flores,
Jeremy Shaw and
Jared Johnson finished 8th in the event in a time of 3:36.52.
