East Bay Women Show Up Big at 5th Annual East Bay Invitational

HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's track & field team hosted the fifth annual East Bay Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Chabot College. The Pioneers had a strong showing on a beautiful weekend in the Bay Area, posting notable finishes in both sprint and distance events.
 
Freshman Angelina Ronquillo (Bakersfield, Calif.) notched a first place finish in the 800m event as she clocked a time of 2:18.12.
 
Senior Dana Pollard (Modesto, Calif.) logged a second place finish in the 5000m run as she crossed the line in a time of 19:09.80.
 
Andrea Romero (Delano, Calif.) notched a fourth place finish in the 1500m event with a time of 4:53. Freshman Claire Fisher followed with a 11th place finish in a time of 4:58.97. Senior Kathrine Embody (Castro Valley, Calif.) tallied a 15th place finished in a time of 5:01.60. Jodi Go (Hilo, Hawaii) rounded out the East Bay participation in the 1500m event with a time of 5:36.28, good for 38th place.
 
In the 400m event Brittney Duquette (Claremont, Calif.) finished eighth, clocking a time of 1:00.20.
 
 
The Pioneer 4x100m Relay team of Elizabeth Coker (Rancho Cordova, Calif), Shelby Parker (Mililani, Hawaii), Yingfei Zhang (Nanjing, China) and Jodi Go finished third with a time of 1:06.58. In the 4x400m Relay Andrea Romero, Brittney Duquette, Alondra Castro Ortiz (Pomona, Calif.) and Megan Satterfield (Granada Hills, Calif.) notch a fourth place finish in a time of 4:15.63.
 
In the Javelin Throw event Cecilia Carretero led the Pioneers with a third place finish after tossing 14.90m. Samantha Valencia (Riverside, Calif.) hurled 10.33m for a fifth place finish.
 
The East Bay women's track & field team will travel to Torrance, Calif. for the Mt. Sac Relays at El Camino College starting Wednesday April 18 through Saturday April 21.
