East Bay Women Finish Tied for 9th at CBU Lancer Joust

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif.
-- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team performed against a strong field of opponents this week, finishing in a tie for 9th place out of 18 teams at California Baptist's annual Lancer Joust at Goose Creek Golf Club.

The Pioneers turned in a consistent effort, posting a team score of 317 (+29) in each round of the 36-hole event to finish at 634 (+58). They were even with Embry-Riddle and just two strokes behind Simon Fraser in ninth. The host, CBU, won the tournament by six strokes over second-place Cal State San Marcos.

Junior Carolin Chang led the Pioneers for the fourth time in as many tournaments this season, although she broke her streak of top-five finishes. Chang shot 76 (+4) on Monday followed by 75 (+3) on Tuesday for a total of 151 (+7). She finished in a tie for 12th place in the overall field of 95 golfers. 

Lulu Huang was East Bay's second individual finisher, turning in her most consistent performance of the year with rounds of 79 (+7) and 78 (+6) to finish with a share of 31st place at 157 (+13).

Julia Youn ended up in a tie for 55th place after shooting 80 (+8) and 82 (+1) for a total of 162 (+18). She was two stroke ahead of teammate Sienna Starck, who carded 82 in back-to-back round to finish at 164 (+20).

Jamie Enseki rounded out East Bay's week, carding 83-84 and taking a share of 76th place with her total of 167 (+23). 

The Pioneers are back in action next week too continue the Spring schedule with their home tournament. The CSUEB men and women host their respective annual Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootouts simultaneously on Mar. 5-6, with the women playing 36 holes at the Calippe Preserve in Pleasanton.
