HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team will hit the road for their final road trip of the 2018 regular season.

The Pioneers will face finish their regular season slate with a Thursday afternoon, October 25 match against Sonoma State at Seawolf Soccer Field before wrapping the up the weekend with a Saturday morning, October 27 with a contest against Humboldt State at College Creek Field.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cal State East Bay women's soccer program pulled off an astounding 3-2 comeback victory over the visiting Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes on Friday afternoon, October 19 at Pioneer Stadium.

As part of their "Dig For A Cure" pink game, CSUEB sported pink warmup shirts in pink goalie uniforms in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Pioneers found themselves down 2-0 early in the the first half of action after goals by the Coyotes in the 32nd and 39th minutes of play.

But East Bay would not hang their heads on that as they rallied together to surge for the comeback win. Before the halftime intermission junior
Jamie McPherson (San Leandro, Calif.) would put the Pioneers on the board with a penalty goal in the 41st minute of play. For McPherson, it was her fourth goal of the season.

The second half of play belonged all to the Pioneers as they scored two more goals to come away with the win. Just minutes into the second half CSUEB's leading scorer
Abby Buitrago (San Jose, Calif.) scored her fifth goal of the season on a well placed shot to the right corner of the goal. She was assisted on the goal by junior
Liz Hernandez (Whittier, Calif.), which was her second helper of the season.

In the 87th minute of action junior
Chace Miguel (Hollister, Calif.) put in the game-winning, go-ahead header from inside the box on a pass from
Jamie McPherson to secure the 3-2 win for Cal State East Bay. For Miguel it was her fourth goal of the season and for McPherson it was her team-leading third assist of the season.

Briana Vasquez-Ortiz (Long Beach, Calif.) logged all 90 minutes in the box and recorded three saves.

The Cal State East Bay women's soccer program dropped a tough double overtime match to the visiting Cal Poly Pomona Broncos to wrap up their 2018 home schedule on Sunday morning, October 21 at Pioneer Stadium.

It was Senior Day for CSUEB as seniors:
Aulani Fernandez,
Miranda Gonzalez and
Savannah Schultz were honored with a ceremony prior to the start of the game.
Cal State East Bay got on the board early as seniors
Miranda Gonzalez (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and
Savannah Schultz (Folsom, Calif.) connected on a goal in the 12th minute of action. Gonzalez placed an excellent pass to Schultz just outside the box and Schultz finished it off with a score to the back right side of the goal.

For Schultz, it was her second goal of the season and her second goal in CCAA play. For Gonzalez, it was her second assist of the year.

The Pioneers would take a 1-0 lead into the intermission, but it was the visiting Broncos who would control the second half and overtime periods.

Cal Poly Pomona was in possession of the ball for most of the second half as they their first goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute of action.
Â
It would take two overtimes but the Broncos would seal the game with a game-winning goal in with 2:46 left to go to capture their first conference victory of the season.

Briana Vasquez-Ortiz (Long Beach, Calif.) recorded all 90 minutes in the box and logged four saves.

PIONEER POINTS
The Pioneers got off to a 5-0 to the season which is the program's best start since joining the CCAA. Cal State East Bay had only allowed one goal through those five games.

Abby Buitrago (San Jose, Calif.) leads the Pioneers with five goals scored which are tied for fourth in the conference. Buitrago's 11 points are tied for fifth in the CCAA and her three game-winning goals are tied for second in the conference.

Chace Miguel (Hollister, Calif.) is tied for second on the Pioneers with four goals and 10 points. Miguel second on the squad with three goals in CCAA action and she has two assists on the season.
Jamie McPherson (San Leandro, Calif.) also has four goals on the season along with three assists and 11 points. All four of McPherson's goals have come in CCAA action including the game- winning goal in East Bay's win over Dominguez Hills.

Keionna Claypoole (Sacramento, Calif.),
Liz Hernandez (Whittier, Calif.) and
Jordan Lemieux (Bothell, Wash.) also have two assists apiece for the Pioneers.

Briana Vasquez-Ortiz (Long Beach, Calif.) has racked up 55 saves and five shutouts. Vasquez-Ortiz is tied for second in the conference lead with five shutouts, including three shutouts in CCAA action.

SCOUTING SONOMA STATE
The Sonoma State Seawolves enter the matchup with the Pioneers with a 9-2-3 record on the season with a 7-2-1 mark in CCAA play after falling to Chico State before defeating Stanislaus State. Molly Murphy leads the Seawolves with four goals and nine points while Riley West is tops on the team with four assists. Kristen Spear paces Sonoma with 52 saves and seven shutouts through 14 games.

SCOUTING HUMBOLDT STATE
The Humboldt State Lumberjacks come into the matchup against East Bay with a 5-9-1 record and a 2-8-0 in conference action. Alex Jenkins has tallied eight goals to lead the Lumberjacks while Sabine Postma leading HSU with three assists. Nora Goodrie has started and played 10 games racking up 35 saves and two shutouts.
