HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team will conclude the 2017 regular season with California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) home matchups against UC San Diego (Oct. 26) and Cal State San Marcos (Oct. 28). Both games will be held at Pioneer Stadium.

Saturday afternoon's game game against Cal State San Marcos will be Senior Day as the Pioneers will honor their three seniors:
Megan Massone,
Nicole Lutz and
Janelle Herrera.

WEEK IN REVIEW
Cal State East Bay is currently sitting 4-11-1 on the season after tying 1-1 against Chico State and closing the road season with a 4-0 loss to Stanislaus State.

With the tie the Cal State East Bay earned a CCAA women's soccer point and move to 4-10-1 on the season and 1-7-1 in conference play. It was CSUEB's first tie of the 2017 season and their first tie in CCAA action since 2015.

The first half was tightly contested like the entire game. Neither team could capitalize on their shoot opportunities. The Wildcats took six shots to just one from the Pioneers as the team carried a 0-0 tie into the intermission.

The second half would provide more action for both squads and Chico State lit up the scoreboard first in the 64th minute of play with a goal by Sarah Emigh. The Pioneers would respond in the 74th minute as Freshman
Abby Buitrago answered with her third goal on the season.

Buitrago (San Jose, Calif.,) scored on a takeaway from the top of the box and put her shot in the opposite bottom corner of the goal.

Nether team would be able to put anymore points on the the scoreboard as they competed through two overtimes. Chico State held the shot advantage 19-7 and shot on goal advantage 7-4.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Cheyanne Foster Rocklin, Calif.,) logged all 110 minutes in the net and compiled a career-best six saves.

In the Pioneers game against Stanislaus State, CSUEB ran into a streaking Stan State squad that was now won five straight conference matches as the Warriors finished the 2017 season unbeaten at home.

The Pioneers were aggressive with their opportunities early in the game as junior
Savannah Schultz (Folsom, Calif.,) almost converted on a goal in the 11th minute of action. After that It was all Warriors.

Stanislaus State got on the board first in 33rd minute to claim a 1-0 lead at the intermission.
Â
Stan State would add three more goals to their lead in the second half. The Warriors scored their second and third goals back-to-back in the 54th and 58th. Stan State put in their final goal of the afternoon in the 86th minute to come away with the 4-0 victory.

The shot count was nearly even in the first half as East Bay complied six to just five from the Warriors. The Warriors out-shot the Pioneers 12-4 in the second half en route to the 17-10 shot-advantage.

Cheyanne Foster recorded a career best seven saves after logging all 90 minutes in the net.

FERNANDEZ'S FURIOUS FINISHES
Junior
Aulani Fernandez (Brentwood, Calif.,) currently leads the Pioneers with four goals on the year. Her eight points are also first on the team. Fernandez's two-goal game against Fresno Pacific was the first multi-goal performance of her Pioneer career.

BUITRAGO'S BUZZING BLASTS
Freshman
Abby Buitrago (San Jose, Calif.,) is second on East Bay with three goals on the seasons. All three of her goals have come in CCAA action including two in the CCAA opening win over Humboldt State. She has also added one assist for the Pioneers as well.

McDOUGAL'S MAGICAL MOVES
Freshman
Lauren McDougal (Elk Grove, Calif.,) (Elk Grove, Calif.,) is pacing East Bay with three assists on the season.

McDougal was selected as Cal State East Bay's Female Athlete of the Week for Oct. 9-15. McDougal scored the game-winning goal for the East Bay women's in their lone contest of the week, a 2-0 non-conference victory Friday on the road at UC Santa Cruz. The freshman scored from 20 yards, just outside the goalie box, into the left corner of the goal on an assist from
Bri Vallente. McDougal has two goals on the season after scoring her first career goal in her first career game as a Pioneer.

GIANTS IN GOAL
Goalies
Ina Gonzalez (Aromas, Calif.,) and
Cheyanne Foster (Rocklin, Calif.,) have both showed tremendous promise thus far in the net this season. Gonzalez has appeared in 10 games making nine starts. She has logged 28 saves through 98 shots faced.

Foster has played in eight games with seven starts in goal. She had registered 24 saves through 62 shots faced. She also has one shutout on the season.

SCOUTING UC SAN DIEGO
The Tritons will enter the matchup with the Pioneers as the lone undefeated team left in the CCAA after defeating Sonoma State 2-1 and tying with Cal State San Marcos 0-0 in a non-conference meeting. Mary Reilly leads the Tritons with six goals on the season. Summer Bales is pacing UC San Diego with four assists so far and Angelica Ramos has a team best 46 saves and has recorded a conference best 10 shutouts.

SOCUTING CAL STATE SAN MARCOS
The Cougars come into their game against East Bay with a 7-6-1 overall mark on the season after cruising past Humboldt State 1-0 and tying with UC San Diego 0-0 in a non-conference showdown. Meghan Randig is tied for the team lead with three goals for CSUSM along with Kayla Anderson who also has scored three goals and leads the team with four assists.
