HAYWARD, Calif., --Â The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team embarks on its final California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) road trip with matches against Chico State and Stanislaus State.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Pioneers are currently sitting 4-10 on the season with a 1-7 mark in conference play. East Bay only played one non-conference game against UC Santa Cruz last week.

The Pioneer women's soccer team returned to their winning ways with a 2-0 road victory over the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs on Friday afternoon, October 13 at the Soccer Complex.

The Pioneers came out the gates aggressive in the first half attempting nine shots to just two from the Banana Slugs. The two teams would enter the intermission knotted at 0-0. East Bay would continue their offensive intensity in the second half compiling 10 shots and connecting on goals in the 49th and 67th minutes of play.

The first goal of the game was put in by freshman
Lauren McDougal who scored her second goal of the year on a shot from 20 yards out that landed in the left corner of the goal. She was assisted on the score by
Bri Vallente. For Vallente it was her first assist of the season.

On the Pioneers second point of the afternoon, junior
Aulani Fernandez scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season on the tap off the right post. She was assisted on her goal by
Kiret Pattar and
Janelle Herrera both Pioneers have two assists on the season.

Cal State East Bay held the shot advantage 19-6 and recorded five corner kicks to none from UC Santa Cruz.

Sophomore
Cheyanne Foster recorded her first shutout of the 2017 season tying a season-best with three saves.

FERNANDEZ'S FURIOUS FINISHES
Junior
Aulani Fernandez (Brentwood, Calif.,) currently leads the Pioneers with four goals on the year. Her eight points are also first on the team. Fernandez's two-goal game against Fresno Pacific was the first multi-goal performance of her Pioneer career.

MCDOUGAL'S MAGICAL MOVES
Freshman
Lauren McDougal (Elk Grove, Calif.,) is pacing East Bay with three assists on the season. McDougal is tied for tenth in the CCAA with three assists as well.

McDougal was selected as Cal State East Bay's Female Athlete of the Week for Oct. 9-15. McDougal scored the game-winning goal for the East Bay women's in their lone contest of the week, a 2-0 non-conference victory Friday on the road at UC Santa Cruz. The freshman scored from 20 yards, just outside the goalie box, into the left corner of the goal on an assist from
Bri Vallente. McDougal has two goals on the season after scoring her first career goal in her first career game as a Pioneer.

GIANTS INSIDE THE GOAL
Goalies
Ina Gonzalez (Aromas, Calif.,) and
Cheyanne Foster (Rocklin, Calif.,) have both showed tremendous promise thus far in the net this season. Gonzalez has appeared in 10 games making nine starts. She has logged 28 saves through 98 shots faced.

Foster has played in six games with five starts in goal. She had registered 11 saves through 27 shots faced. She also has one shutout on the season.

SCOUTING CHICO STATE
Chico State enter the weekend with an 8-5 record overall and a 4-4 mark in conference play. The Wildcats are coming off back-to-back home wins over Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino. Erin Woods leads Chico State with five goals and is tied for the team lead with Pooja Patel with three assists on the season. Claire Abele has started 13 games in goal and leads the Wildcats with 33 saves and four shutouts.

SCOUTING STANISLAUS STATE
Stanislaus State comes into the weekend 8-4-2 on the season and 3-4-1 in CCAA action. The Warriors defeated Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona over the past week. Jade Poon leads the team with seven goals and is tied with a team-leading three assists with Gabriela Vargas, Julia Cummings and Kassandra Le. Haley Crook leads Stan State with 10 starts in goal racking up 46 saves and four shutouts.
