Call, Offense Give East Bay Series Victory with 6-1 Win

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Jacob Call threw six scoreless innings and the trio of Marcus Wise, Raymond Jones, and Rudy Navarro all had two-hit games and RBI's as Cal State East Bay won the rubber match of their three-game series Sunday at UC San Diego by a score of 6-1.

With the victory, the Pioneers CCAA North Division record improves to 18-14 and their overall record 27-16. The Tritons are now 18-15 in the CCAA South Division and 28-17 overall.

With four games remaining in conference play and the regular season, the Pioneers control their own destiny in their quest for the CCAA Tournament.

The Pioneers got the scoring started in the third inning when they scored three times. With Michael Frantz on third and Wise on first, Jones singled to left field to score Frantz and advanced Wise to second. Navarro came up next and singled to right field to score Wise and make it 2-0. Troy Resch finished off the rally with a fielder's choice that scored Jones.

East Bay would score their next two runs on wild pitches. Zack Perugi scored on a wild pitch in the fourth, and Dakota Conners scored the fifth run in the sixth inning.

The Tritons would plate a run in the seventh before Wise singled up the middle in the eighth to score Bryan Mason to make it 6-1. The Pioneers would retired the Tritons 1-2-3 in the ninth and come home having won all three of their CCAA series in Southern California.

Perugi and Conners joined Wise, Navarro, and Jones in the two-hit club Sunday. Call's stellar outing earned him the win (5-4).

East Bay will have the day off Monday before playing San Francisco State in a makeup game Tuesday at Pioneer Field at 3:00 P.M.
