ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team took fifth place at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational after a solid round of 325 (+37) on Tuesday at Foxtail Golf Club. 

The Pioneers finished the 36-hole tournament at 656 (+80). They leapfrogged Dominican in the second round and also finished ahead of Cal State Monterey Bay, Hawaii Pacific, Northwest Nazarene, and Holy Names.

Led by individual medalist Bianca Armanini, Chico State captured the team championship by two strokes over the host Seawolves.

Senior Melissa Hosman tied for the third-best round of anyone in the field on Tuesday with a 77 (+5). She moved up seven spots on the leaderboard to finish with a share of third place at 155 (+11). The Castro Valley native tallied three more birdes in her second and led the entire fiedl with six birdies for the week.

Freshman Ariel Caro improved her score by six stroke from round one, carding 79 (+7) to finish at 164 (+20) in a tie for 24th place in the overall field of 56 golfers. 

Taylor Wyss also had a much better day on Tuesday, carving eight strokes off her Monday total with a 79 (+7) to end up tied for 28th at 166 (+22). 

Hafsa Khan turned in the fourth Pioneer team score with a 90 (+18) and finished in a tie for 37th place at 171 (+27). Lulu Huang shot 92 (+20) in round two, giving her a share of 49th place at 182 (+38). Sienna Starck finished off the week with a 94 (+22) competing as an individual, putting her in 51st place with a total of 185 (+41). 

The Pioneer women close out the 2015-16 regular season with an 18-hole tournament hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay on Apr. 22. It will be the team's last event before the NCAA West Super Regional field is announced.
