SEASIDE, Calif.
-- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team took a share of 12th place out of 18 teams at the 2016 Otter Invitational, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at Black Horse Golf Course. The Pioneers shot 335 (+47) in Tuesday's final round to finish at 658 (+82).

The Pioneers finished ahead of six schools, including West/South-Central rivals Angelo State, Colorado Christian, Colorado-Colorado Spring, Holy Names, and Regis. No. 11 ranked Tarleton State fired a 296 (+8) in the second round to claim the team championship at +33.

Taking on a talented and deep field featuring some of the top golfers in the nation, senior Melissa Hosman had one of her best tournaments of the season. She shot 78 (+6) in round two to finish at 155 (+11), good for a share of 11th place just five strokes behind the individual champion.

With conditions playing tough at Black Horse, Hosman was tied for second among all players in the field with five total birdies.

Freshman Ariel Caro finished in the top half of the 96-golfer field as well. She carded 84 (+12) in the final round to earn a share of 40th place at 162 (+18) overall.

Taylor Wyss fired the third-best round on the team in round two with an 86 (+14), improving six strokes from her Monday round. The sophomore finished tied for 82nd for the tournament at 178 (+34).

Lulu Huang turned in East Bay's fourth team score on Tuesday with an 87 (+15), giving her a share of 77th place overall at 173 (+29).

Hafsa Khan was the Pioneers' third finisher for the week, tying for 72nd with a total of 171 (+27) after shooting an 89 (+170 in the second round.

With just a few tournaments remaining on the spring schedule, the CSUEB women now have a weekend off before traveling to Arizona for the Western New Mexico Mustang Intercollegiate on Apr. 1-2.
