SANTEE, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay men's golf team finished strong at the SoCal Intercollegiate, hosted by UC San Diego at Carlton Oaks Golf Club. The Pioneers shot their best total of the week in Tuesday's final round to finish in 10th place overall.

East Bay shot 305 (+17) in round three, giving them a total score of 932 (+68). CSUEB passed Cal State Dominguez Hills (+71) in the final round and fell just two strokes short of Hawaii Hilo (+66) in ninth place. No. 2 ranked Chico State won the team championship at +22, followed by No. 8 Cal State Monterey Bay in second place at +28. 

For the second straight round, Owen Hutchison fired the low round for the Pioneers. The junior shot 75 (+3) to close out the tournament tied for 20th place at 225 (+9), seven stroke behind the individual champion.

Adam Stone was one of two Pioneers to turn in a 77 (+5) on Tuesday. The junior left-hander earned a share of 20th place in the overall field of 60 golfers after finishing the week at 230 (+14). 

Chad Hall bounced back from a difficult second round and carded a solid score in the round three with a 76 (+4), moving him up into a tie for 44th at 238 (+22) overall. 

Senior Joel Keylor turned in the fourth team score for East Bay with a 77 (+5), his lowest round of the tournament. Sophomore Ignacio Ognian, competing unattached, also shot 77 (+5) for his best score of the week. Keylor and Ognian both finished a stroke behind Hall at 239 (+23). 

Junior Jaskaran Sihota carded his second straight 86 (+24) to round out the tournament and finished 60th with a total of 260 (+44).

The Pioneers now have just two regular season tournaments remaining this spring to establish their NCAA resume prior to the CCAA Championships. The squad has a week off before traveling to Arizona for Western New Mexico's Mustang Intercollegiate on Apr. 4-5.
