HAYWARD, Calif. — Cal State East Bay student-athletes Mika Sayfurahman of the women's soccer team and Oscar Blomqvist of the men's golf team have been selected as the university's recipients of the 2025-26 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced.
The Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from each of the CCAA's 12 member institutions who have demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics and service to their campus community.
Sayfurahman and Blomqvist were among 24 student-athletes recognized across the conference and were selected by the Cal State East Bay athletic department for representing the university and the CCAA through outstanding academic and athletic achievement.
The 2025-26 class includes 17 seniors, six juniors and one graduate student representing 12 of the conference's 13 sponsored sports and a wide variety of academic disciplines.
Named in honor of the late Dr. Hal Charnofsky, the award celebrates student-athletes who exemplify the values of scholarship, leadership and athletic excellence throughout their collegiate careers.
