CORONA, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team finished in 12th place at the California Baptist Invitational after shooting 345 (+57) in Tuesday's final round at the par-72 Eagle Rock Golf Club.
The Pioneers finished with a total of 683 (+107), putting them ahead of five schools in the 17-team field. The host Lancers captured the team championship on a one-hole playoff after finishing tied with Academy of Art at +50.
Freshman
Ariel Caro led the Pioneers for the second day in a row with an 82 (+10), giving her a two-round total of 163 (+19). Caro posted a solid finish in her first collegiate event, tying for 22nd place in the overall field of 94 golfers.
Senior
Melissa Hosman matched Caro's 82 (+10) in the second round, improving by a stroke from Monday. She finished just two strokes behind her teammate at 165 (+3) and tied for 27th individually.
Lulu Huang carded 88 (+16) on Tuesday, putting her at 171 (+27) for the week with a share of 52nd place.
The fourth team score of the day came from
Taylor Wyss with a 93 (+21). She was just ahead of teammate
Hafsa Khan, who shot 94 (+22). Wyss finished at 185 (+43) overall, tied for 81st place, while Khan wrapped up the tournament at 75th place with a total of 185 (+41).
The Pioneers now have a week off before hosting their annual tournament, the Tim Tierney Pioneers Shootout, on Mar. 7-8 at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo, Calif.
