SAN ANTONIO, Texas
-- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team took 15th place at the 2016 Rattler Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's University at The Dominion Country Club. The Pioneers shot 349 (+61) in Tuesday's second round to finish with a total of 688 (+112).

The 19-team field was extremely competitive, featuring 10 of the top 50 teams in the nation. 16th-ranked St. Mary's captured the team championship at +28, followed by No. 8 Tarleton State in second (+46) and No. 4 Dallas Baptist (+54) in third.

Conditions in San Antonio were incredibly challenging this week. Despite a talented field of golfers, not a single individual shot below 74 in the second round on the par-72 course.

Sophomore Lulu Huang was East Bay's highest finisher, taking a share of 45th place at 167 (+23). She had the lowest round of any Pioneer this week with an 80 on Monday, then followed that up with an 87 (+15) on Tuesday.

Sophomore Taylor Wyss fired the low round of the day for the Pioneers with a second-round 85 (+13). She finished the tournament in a tie for 61st place at 171 (+27) and was the only CSUEB golfer whose score improved from the first round to the second. Wyss finished the week at even-par on par-three holes, which was second-best in the field.

Melissa Hosman, the lone senior on the squad, shot 88 (+16) on Tuesday to finish at 174 (+30) in a tie for 68th place in the overall field of 94 golfers.

Freshman Ariel Caro turned in an 89 (+17) to close out her first collegiate tournament, putting her in a tie for 71st place overall with a total of 176 (+32).

Sophomore Sienna Starck carded 91 (+19), rounding out the tournament for the Pioneers with a share of 81st place at 181 (+37).

The Pioneer women are back in action next week when they travel to southern California for the California Baptist Invitational on Feb. 22-23.
