BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Cal State East Bay women's cross country team closed out the 2016 season on Saturday with a 26th place finish at the NCAA Division II West Regionals, hosted by Montana State Billings at the 6k Amend Park course.Â
Sarah Perrin, an East Bay native who started her career at the CCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-Conference runner, finished her career as the team's top finisher today. Perrin placed 86th in the field of over 200 runners with a time of 23:14.24. She carved more than a minute off her 6k time from last year's West Regional meet.
Fellow senior
Kelsey Lamb was CSUEB's second finisher in 111th place, clocking in at 23:40. Junior
Dana Pollard followed her in 136th place with a time of 24:18.36.Â
Freshman
Andrea Romero (24;48.95) and senior
Kandace Compton (25:33.92) placed 158th and 182nd, respectively, to finish as East Bay fourth and fifth scoring runners. Rookie
Megan Satterfield (27:44.18) and Sophomore
Taryn Stevenson (29:21.32) took 201st and 203rd to close out the team's trip to Montana.
Chico State captured the West Region championship, and CCAA champ Laura Aceves of Cal State San Bernardino was the individual winner. Simon Fraser, Alaska Anchorage, Point Loma, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal Baptist round out the top six ands will advance to NCAA National Championships along with Chico.
This marks the end of the cross country season, as the Pioneer runners will now look forward to track season. Today was the final collegiate meet for the four-year Pioneer seniors, Perrin and Lamb, who both stepped up and had excellent senior campaigns to lead East Bay to out-perform expectations throughout the Fall.Â
