BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team turned in a strong effort on Tuesday morning in the final round of the Western Washington Invitational. The Pioneers shot 307 (+15) at the par-73 Bellingham Country Club, 14 strokes better than their first-round total.Â
CSUEB finished the 36-hole event at 628 (+44), tied for seventh place in the 14-team field. They were 20 strokes behind the team champion, Simon Fraser, and finished dead even with rival Cal State Monterey Bay.
Junior
Taylor Wyss was the team's top player in both rounds, turning in rounds of 77-75 to finish in a tie for eighth individually at 152 (+6). It's her first career top-10 finish for the Pioneers.
Sophomore
Ariel Caro was also solid in the Pacific Northwest, taking a share of 14th place with rounds of 80-75 for a total of 155 (+9).Â

Senior newcomer
Julia Youn fired 81 (+8) and 80 (+7), ending up in a 35th place tie at 161 (+15). Junior
Sienna Starck carded 86 (+13) on Monday, but bounced back with an outstanding round of 77 (+4) on Tuesday to move up to 44th place with a total of 163 (+17).
Jamie Enseki rounded out CSUEB's performance with a 67th place finish. The senior shot 83-89 for a two-round total of 172 (+26).Â
The Pioneers are back in action next week for their first in-state tournament of the Fall when they travel to Rohnert Park for the Sonoma State Invitational on Oct. 17-18.Â
