CHICO, Calif. -- Junior
Taelor Shweiki finished in third place individually to lead the Cal State East Bay women's golf team at the Chico State Interwest Wildcat Classic on Monday, the final tournament of the 2014-15 season.
She carded back-to-back rounds of 75 (+3) at the par-72 Butte Creek Country Club to finish at 150 (+6), two strokes behind the individual medalist, Sonoma State's Sarah Rotter (+4).
The Pioneer women finished the two-round event in fourth place at 628 (+52) after turning in scores of 313 (+25) and 315 (+27) in Monday's rounds. Sonoma State took the team title at +38, followed by Chico State (+41) in second place and Cal State Monterey Bay (+50) in third.
Junior
Melissa Hosman also turned in a strong performance and took fifth in the overall field of 22 golfers. She shot 79 (+7) in the morning, followed by a team-best 74 (+2) in the afternoon, putting her at 153 (+9).
Lulu Huang shot 81 (+9) and 86 (+14), and fellow freshman
Sienna Starck carded 80 (+8) and 87 (+15). The pair finished in a tie for 18th at 167 (+23).
Competing individually,
Michelle Wong took 20th place at 172 (+28) after consecutive rounds of 86 (+14). Senior
Linda Brown shot 78 (+6) in round one, but didn't finish the second round of play.
The Pioneers have now completed their 2014-15 regular season schedule. They'll await this week's NCAA rankings to find out whether any individuals are selected to compete at the NCAA Super Regionals in Rohnert Park the first week of May.
