ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team took 11th place at the 2015 Sonoma State Fall Invitational after shooting 339 (+51) as a team in Tuesday's final round at the par-72 Foxtail Golf Club.Â
The Pioneers improved by seven strokes from the first round to the second, finishing at 685 (+109) for the week. The host Seawolves claimed the team championship at +36, followed by Academy of Art (+42) in second place and Chico State (+44) in third.Â
Senior
Michelle Wong was East Bay's highest finisher for the week while competing as an individual. She finished in a tie for 29th place at 164 (+20) after shooting an 85 (+13) on Tuesday.Â
Sophomore
Lulu Huang carded the lowest round of the day for the Pioneers with an 80 (+8) to move up into the top half of the 70-golfer field. She closed out the tournament at 166 (+22) with a share of 33rd place.Â
The next three team scores for East Bay came from sophomore
Taylor Wyss with an 84 (+12), sophomore
Sienna Starck with an 87 (+15), and senior
Melissa Hosman with an 88 (+16). The trio finished in tight bunch just one stroke apart overall. Starck tied for 46th at 172 (+28), Hosman tied for 48th at 173 (+29), and Wyss tied for 50th at 174 (+30).Â
Freshman
Hafsa Khan turned in a 92 (+20) to close out East Bay's day at the SSU Invitational, putting her in a tie for 60th place at 182 (+38) overall.Â
The Pioneers have completed their fall schedule, which featured tournaments in four different states. The squad will now prepare for the spring slate, which starts Feb. 15 at the St. Mary's Lady Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
