POMONA, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's soccer will face two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opponents this weekend looking to make a move up the league standings. The Pioneers will head to Southern California to start a 4-match road trip against Cal Poly Pomona and UC San Diego.

Cal State East Bay (5-4-2, 2-2-0 CCAA) is currently tied for fifth in the CCAA standings, immediately followed behind by UC San Diego (4-4-2, 1-2-1 CCAA) and Cal Poly Pomona (6-4-0, 1-3-0 CCAA). A pair of Pioneer victories would give the team its most single-season wins since 2008 and put Head Coach Amy Gerace one victory shy of 100 for her career.

Cal State East Bay at Cal Poly Pomona (Friday Match Notes)
Cal State East Bay enters the weekend having won two of its past three matches, with the lone loss coming against nationally ranked No. 14 Sonoma State. Cal Poly Pomona suffered a pair of losses this past weekend and has scored only two goals in four CCAA contests thus far.

The Broncos are hoping history repeats itself having won the past four meetings and posting a 5-0-1 record against the Pioneers over the previous six encounters. Cal Poly Pomona has found success this season at home on Kellogg Field with five wins in seven matches.

While the Broncos have enjoyed victories at home, the Pioneers have felt comfortable on the road. The Pioneers have not lost in four matches away from home (2-0-2). An East Bay victory would snap that streak and give the team its first back-to-back wins of the year.

Cal State East Bay at UC San Diego (Sunday Match Notes)
Andrea Hernandez's overtime goal in last year's meeting with UC San Diego gave East Bay its first victory over the Tritons since joining the CCAA. Her first collegiate score was a golden goal set up by current teammate and team leading scorer Megan Ravenscroft.

UC San Diego suffered a pair of 1-0 losses before earning an upset win over then nationally ranked No. 8 Cal State San Bernardino to open league play. The Tritons will have another tough opponent on Friday when they host No. 7 ranked Cal State Stanislaus.

Cal State East Bay has scored at least one goal in four straight games and in all but 2-of-11 matches in 2014. Ravenscroft has been the offensive catalyst this season and is currently tied for third in the CCAA with seven goals and 16 points.

UC San Diego has managed to net only three goals over the past five matches and is currently tied for the lowest scoring offense in league play through four CCAA contests. Defensively goalkeeper Kelcie Brodsky is leading the league with 45 saves in 10 matches and is holding the opposition to little more than a goal per game.
