HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay is in prime position to move up the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings this upcoming weekend. The Pioneers will host the two teams only one point ahead of them in the standings with Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday and San Francisco State on Sunday.

Cal State East Bay (1-5-0, 1-3-0 CCAA) picked up its first victory of the season earning a 1-0 double overtime road win over Humboldt State on Friday, Sept. 20. Freshman Rachel Robbert scored her first ever collegiate goal and was named CSUEB Female Athlete of the Week for her game-winner. The Pioneers are hoping to use this as a step in the right direction towards improved results in the near future.

"We are looking to continue building on our play this past weekend," said 13th year Head Coach Amy Gerace. "This team benefits from experience right now more than anything else. They continue to work hard every day and are moving in a positive direction."

Cal State East Bay vs. Cal State Monterey Bay Match Preview
Cal State Monterey Bay (2-3-1, 2-2-1 CCAA) is 0-2-1 over its past three contests and hits the road following a five-match homestand. Friday's visit to Hayward will be the first league road match for the Otters this season.

CSUMB's Jami Murray leads the team with four of the team's nine goals this season. Murray has found her target often placing 15-of-20 shots attempted on goal in 2013. The Otters scored five of their nine goals this season during a 5-2 victory over Humboldt State, while just four scores came in the other five matches.

Since the series restarted back in 2009 the Otters have posted a 5-1-0 record against the Pioneers. However East Bay won the most recent matchup between these two squads 1-0 back on Sept. 30, 2012.

Cal State East Bay vs. San Francisco State Match Preview
San Francisco State (2-2-2, 1-2-1 CCAA) will be playing its first road matches of the season this weekend. In 2012 SFSU finished 2-6-1 in road matches posting one-goal victories over Humboldt State and Chico State.

The Gators offense has sputtered as of late failing to score in three of their past four matches. Four different players are tied for the scoring lead with one goal apiece this season.

Goalkeeper Allison Land has played all 581-plus minutes in goal for the Gators and is holding opponents to 0.93 goals against average this season, ranking fourth best in the CCAA. She has held five of six opponents to one goal or less this year and has a pair of solo shutouts to her name.

East Bay goalkeeper Donna Williams has started five of six games for the Pioneers and is holding opponents to 1.74 goals against this season. Her 32 saves in 2013 ranks third best in the conference behind Kelcie Brodsky of UC San Diego (38) and Land from SFSU (36).
