MARYSVILLE, Calif. — Pioneer baseball player
Eren Miravalles was named to the 2013 All-Horizon Air Summer Series team this week. The South San Francisco native was the only first-team selection from his summer squad, the San Francisco Seagulls.
The Horizon Air Summer Series is made of up three divisions and includes collegiate summer teams from all over California. In its ninth year of existence, the league features top student-athletes from the Division I, II, III, and junior college levels.
Miravalles was the top offensive player for the Seagulls this summer, batting .356 with a .484 on-base percentage. Playing both second and third base, he racked up 36 hits and 21 walks in 31 games. Miravalles also swiped seven bags, scored 13 runs, and had 12 RBI.
The transfer from Canada College enjoyed an outstanding junior season for Cal State East Bay in 2013, playing in all 50 of the Pioneers' games as the starting second baseman. He batted .310 with a .383 obp, led the team with 40 runs scored, and ranked third in hits (57), total bases (71), and steals (10). Also an excellent defensive infielder, Miravalles was named honorable mention All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) at season's end.
