TURLOCK, Calif. – The Pioneer men's track team opened the 2013 season on Saturday with a good showing at the Stanislaus Invitational.

Will Weekes took first place honors in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.50. Orlando Ramirez finished 16th in 2:13.80.

Anthony Gaines recorded a time of 11.90 to place fifth in the 100 meters.

Daniel Damien (9:39.42) and Jose Gonzalez-Mejia (9:44.60) placed 12th and 13th respectively in the 3000 meters. Mejia-Gonzalez time was a personal best.

“Like the women, our men's team performed well, taking first place in the 800 meters and recording personal bests in very windy conditions,” Pioneer Head Coach Ralph Jones said.

The Pioneers will compete in the Kim Duyst Invitational on March 2.
