Pioneer Men Post Two Personal Bests in Final Tune-up to CCAA Championships

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – With the CCAA Championships on the horizon, the Pioneer men's cross country team posted two lifetime bests at the Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational on Saturday. Competing on the 8k Baylands Park Course in Sunnyvale, the Pioneers finished 15th in the team standings.

For the fourth time this season, Daniel Damian was the Pioneers' top finisher in a race. Damian crossed the finish line in a lifetime best time of 26:35.2, earning 25th place and 47th overall of out 224 runners. Jose Gonzalez-Mejia also turned in a lifetime best with a time of 27:02.6, good for 40th place.

"Daniel and Jose both ran good races today," Pioneer head coach Ralph Jones said. "It was a good prep for them going into the CCAA Championships next week."

Irvin Parada (106th) and Orlando Ramirez (107th) were clocked in 30:15.5 and 30:20.9, respectively. Rounding out the race for the Pioneers was Cameron LeBato, who finished 113th with a season-best time of 31:47.9.

The Pioneers will now shift their attention to the CCAA Cross Country Championships, taking place on October 26th at Chico State.
