CONCORD, Calif. — Phillip Logan set a new Cal State East Bay men's cross country 8K record Friday morning, highlighting a day of personal-best performances for the Pioneers at the Saint Mary's Invitational at Newhall Park.

Logan crossed the finish line in 24:17.7, placing 45th overall and accounting for 36 points toward East Bay's team score. His performance broke the previous program record of 24:35.7, set by Cole McKain at the 2024 CCAA Cross Country Championships, by 18 seconds.

The record was one of five personal-best performances among East Bay's scoring runners.

Yosef Amaha placed 76th overall with a personal-best time of 24:55.9, contributing 57 points. His performance moved him to sixth on East Bay's all-time 8K list.

Elijah Fordham followed in 88th overall with a personal-best 25:09.4, moving into ninth all-time at East Bay. Elijah Melchor also recorded a PR, finishing 99th in 25:25.5 to move into 15th on the program's all-time list.

Nestor Alvarado completed East Bay's five scoring runners, placing 101st overall with a personal-best time of 25:27.3. The five scoring performances combined for 288 points and a ninth-place team finish among 13 teams.

John Funderburg finished 110th overall in 25:51.7, followed closely by Brandon Simpson in 111th at 25:52.2. The pair rounded out East Bay's seven scoring-eligible runners.

Carlos Villagomez crossed in 123rd at 26:32.1, followed by Ethan Stockdale in 125th at 26:40.9 and Azarel Barrios Meza in 126th at 26:52.1. Joaquin McGee finished 129th in 27:15.5, Jhann Alvarez placed 131st in 27:43.0 and Logan Phulps crossed in 132nd at 28:03.5.
