SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Competing in a steady down pour, the Pioneer track team put up a good performance at the Johnny Mathis Invitational on March 24.
On the women's side,
Tiffany Duffy recorded a season best time of 5:05.96 to finish 27th among all collegiate runners and 37th overall in the 1500 Meters.
Nastassia Hamor placed 37th and 48th overall with a time of 5:21.88.
In the 200 Meters, Michaella Simmons was the sixth fastest college competitor and 20th overall posting a time of 32.95. Hazel Guitierrez was close behind in seventh and 21st overall in 34.81.
Eugenie Foote and Jeniffer Polite had prelim times of 13.47 and 13.61 in the 100 Meters.
Burtland Dixon led the men's performance with a time of 23.93 to earn 13th place in the 200 Meters. Anthony Gaines finished 15th in 24.34. Earlier, Dixon posted a prelim time of 11.62 in the 100 Meters.
John Vergara had a productive afternoon as he finished 16th among all college runners in the 800 Meters (2:10.34) and 34th in the 1500 Meters (4:28.54).
“The meet today was very unproductive as it poured the entire day, and only a hand full of schools showed up,” Pioneer coach
Ralph Jones said. “Our athletes competed hard, and Tiffany ran a season-best time in the 1500.”
The Pioneers will compete in the California/Nevada Track Championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd –Scripps Colleges on March 31-April 1.
