HAYWARD - The Pioneer women's soccer team will conclude the 2012 regular season with a pair of CCAA home games this week. On October 26, the Pioneers will play U.C. San Diego. The game is set for 4:30 p.m. On October 28, East Bay will host Cal State San Bernardino on “Senior Day” The game will begin at 11:30 a.m. The Pioneers will honor seniors

“There's already been an emotional moment or two in practice this week with reflection of this team and group of seniors,” Pioneer coach
Amy Gerace said. “It's been such a privilege to watch these young women grow as people and soccer players over the past 4 years. These six seniors represent 3- 4 year players and 2-3 year players. They are a very special group, not only because of their impact and personality on the field, but their pride and commitment to the program.”
East Bay stands at 2-9-1 and 6-9-1 following a pair of defeats to Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Monterey Bay over the weekend. East Bay has been involved in many close CCAA games during the 2012 campaign. One game was played to a 1-1 tie while nine other matches have been decided by one goal.
Shianna Falk has scored 13 points on five goals and three assists. Falk has two game winning goals and a team-best 40 shots.
Kara Yamamoto has three goals and seven assists. Yamamoto also has two game winning goals this season. Eugenie Foote has scored four goals in 16 games. Pioneer goalkeeper
Jamie Botteon has allowed 1.45 goals a game with 47 saves and two shutouts. The Pioneer backline, led by
Zuly Diaz, have given up 19 goals in their last 13 games.
U.C. San Diego tops the CCAA South Division with a 9-2-2 record. The Tritons are 11-2-2 for the season. U.C. San Diego has outscored the opposition by a 31-8 margin. Cassie Callahan has a team-best seven goals for the Tritons. Callahan is followed by Izzy Pozurama with six goals. Triton goalkeeper Kelcie Brodsky has allowed 0.45 goals with 62 saves and seven shutouts.
Cal State San Bernardino has a CCAA record of 5-7-1, good for fourth place. The Coyotes are 7-7-7-2 overall. Jani Carmona-Urbano has a team-best 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Kelly Keyes, Katie Gagner and Priscilla Gomez all have scored two goals for the Coyotes.
The Pioneers are hopeful of a successful finish for their five seniors this weekend. “We would like to see the seniors finish their last two games with a lot of success, individually and as a team,” Gerace said. “I know they are competitors and want to complete their playing careers with a great sense of accomplishment.”
