ARCATA, Calif. - The Pioneers were in danger of going 0-2 on their two-game CCAA road trip. Trailing 2-0, the Pioneers rallied with two goals in the final 16 minutes of regulation to tie host Humboldt State 2-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Amy Gerace said. “We definitely had higher expectations for the weekend, but as a coach it's always nice to see the character of your team show and we showed a lot of character today.”

Breahna Berry came off the bench to score the Pioneers first goal of the match in the 64th minute.
Nine minutes later, The Pioneers tied the match as
Ariana Nobrega scored her third goal of the season.
Sara Yamasaki was credited with the assist.
The Lumberjacks took a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute when Pioneer
Nina Cefalo punched the ball and deflected the ball in the net.
The Pioneers cameback with three shots in the next seven minutes, but were unable to score.
Humboldt State increased its lead to 2-0 in the 58th minute as Chelsea Larue scored her first goal of the season.
Shianna Falk had a shot saved by Paugh in the 97th minute of the first overtime.
The Lumberjacks had two shots in the final minute of the first overtime, but were unable to score.
Falk had another shot turned away by Paugh in the 104th minute of the second overtime.
Nina Cefalo was tough in the net for the Pioneers as she saved two Lumberjack shot attempts in the final four minutes.
“We had players come off the bench and really gave us the spark we needed,” Gerace said. “ Bre Berry came into the match and scored a quick goal and Ari Gordon did a great job in the midfield.” “
Kara Yamamoto and Ari Nobrega did an excellent job showing their fitness and playing in all 110 minutes of the match. Brea Baker played excellent in the back. She has been consistent all year and I'm very proud of her.”
The first half was evenly matched as each team had four shots.
Eugenie Foote had a shot saved by Lumberjacks' goalkeeper Jennie Paugh in the 5th minute. In the 35th minute, Nobrega had a shot go wide.
Cefalo turned away a shot by Bre Taylor in the 17th minute.
Each team had 18 shots and eight shots on goal. Nobrega led the Pioneers with a season-high seven shots. Cefalo recorded six saves. Paugh also had six saves for the Lumberjacks.
Cal State East Bay, 1-2-1 in CCAA play and 2-3-1 overall, will host Cal State Stanislaus on Friday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m.
