HAYWARD, Calif. – The Pioneer men's soccer team put together a strong performance in a 3-1 defeat to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday.
The defeat puts the Pioneers at 1-14 in CCAA play and 2-15 overall. The Toros remain in second place in the South Division of the CCAA with a 10-3-2 record. Cal State Dominguez Hills is 12-3-2 for the season.

Bryce Bookhamer came up with two saves in the first eight minutes of the match.
Bookhamer recorded his third save of the half when he turned away a shot from Miguel Vasquez in the 21st minute.
The Pioneers first shot of the half came in the 25th minute when
Daniel Borst had his attempt saved by Toros' goalkeeper Markus Dickerson.
The Toros' Connor Brandt opened the scoring in the 27th minute with his fourth goal of the season. Vasquez was credited with the assist.
Bookhamer recorded two more saves the following six minutes.
In the 34th minute, Jordan Rover gave the Toros a two-goal advantage with his team leading seventh goal of the campaign.
Christian Lara got the Pioneers on the scoreboard in the 48th minute with his first goal of the season.
Javier Martin was credited with the assist.
The Toros turned on the offensive pressure the following 10 minutes, but were unable to extend their lead as Bookhamer recorded four saves.
The Pioneers regained possession as Lara had a shot just deflected by Dickerson.
Two minutes later, Lara had another shot get punched out of the net .
Andres Ponce had a shot go wide seconds later.
Robin Patton, who played outstanding on the back-line, had a shot go high in the Pioneers final scoring opportunity in the 75 minute.
Ronald Ybarra took a pass from Mario Romero to score an insurance goal for the Toros in the 82nd minute.
"I thought we proved again tonight that we still have a lot of fight and determination, and that we can compete with the finest teams in the Region,” Pioneer coach
Andy Cumbo said. “CSUDH is a very strong program and at times we forced their goalkeeper to make some tremendous saves.
"We came out strong in the 1st five minutes of the second half and
Chris Lara was able to score a nice goal. Lara then had three other shots turned away by the GK that resulted in corner kicks, and we also hit the goal two times. We had our moments in the game and showed that we are continually making improvement."
The Pioneers were out-shot by a 22-7 margin. Lara led the Pioneers with four shots on goal. Bookhamer recorded a season-high 11 saves.
Cal State East Bay will conclude the 2011 season with a home match against Cal State L.A. on October 30 at 11:30 a.m. Sunday will also be senior day as the Pioneers honor defender
