Ben O'Bryan threw his third complete game of the season on Saturday afternoon, leading the Cal State East Bay baseball team to a crucial victory at Chico State, the No. 5 team in the nation. The Pioneers split Saturday's doubleheader with the win, and then went onto claim an 8-7 victory on Sunday to split the four-game series. O'Bryan scattered five hits and allowed just one earned run in seven innings. He walked two and struck out seven, while lowering his ERA to a team-best 2.12. The senior right-hander picked up his third win of the season. He leads the Pioneers with 43 strikeouts this season and has allowed just 26 hits in 46.2 innings, holding opponents to a .166 average. He currently ranks ninth in school history with a 3.28 career ERA.
