Competing against Division I opponents at the UNLV Winter Invitational, senior Jenel Lopez is leading the way for the Pioneers, who have impressed during the first two days of the event. Lopez opened the weekend with a win in the B Final of the 50 freestyle and posted her fastest time of the season in the prelims. Lopez also anchored the 400 medley relay and 200 free relay teams to ninth and eighth place, respectively, with the latter shattering the previous school record by two seconds.
On day two, Lopez posted the Pioneers' top finish so far, competing in the A Final of the 200 free where she took runner-up honors and nearly broke her own school record from last season. In addition, Lopez anchored the 200 medley relay team to another school record, and the 800 free relay to East Bay's best relay finish of the meet so far with a fourth-place showing.
