SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Cal State East Bay senior guard Tyree Campbell reached a historic milestone on Saturday, scoring his 1,000th career point in the Pioneers' 70–63 road victory over Cal State San Marcos. With a smooth 3-pointer early in the first half from the top of the arc, Campbell not only helped spark the team, but also joined an exclusive group of players in program history to surpass the 1,000-point threshold.
Campbell finished the game with 10 points, bringing his career total to 1,008, which currently ranks sixth all-time in Cal State East Bay history.
A 6-5 guard from Rancho Cucamonga, California, Campbell's path to this milestone is a story of perseverance and growth. After spending two seasons at California Baptist University, he transferred to Cal State East Bay before the 2022-23 season, where he steadily developed into one of the program's premier scorers and leaders.
Over the past seasons, Campbell has been a consistent force for the Pioneers. As a junior, he earned All-CCAA Second Team honors and led the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game. He also posted a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds against Cal State LA and scored a season-high 26 points at Saint Martin's.
In recognition of his outstanding play this season, Campbell was recently named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 50 Watch List, highlighting the top small college basketball players in the nation.Cal State East Bay head coach Bryan Rooney praised Campbell's milestone, saying, "Tremendous accomplishment for Tyree! Campbell's achievement not only reflects his scoring ability but also his resilience, leadership, and dedication to the Pioneer program. As Cal State East Bay continues its march through the 2025-26 season on what is currently an undefeated season, Campbell's legacy as a leader and elite scorer is firmly cemented in school history.
Campbell joins six other former Pioneers to reach the 1,000-point club at Cal State East Bay, including Pioneers Hall of Famers Mike Wood, Stan Cherry, Michael Dean, as well as Mark Samuels and Will Freedman.
