To say the least, the 2025 season for Cal State East Bay Softball was memorable and historical, which was a testament to the leadership and coaching of Pioneers head coach
Claire Sua-Amundson.
As the Pioneers hosted the 2025 NCAA Division II Softball West Regional last week, Sua-Amundson achieved her 200th career win as a head coach when East Bay defeated Sonoma State, 3-0 to open the regional. Her 200th win was not the only notable achievement for her in 2025.
- Sua-Amundson was named CCAA Coach of the Year after the Pioneers won the regular season conference championship.
- The program reached 40 wins for the first time since 1992.
- Seven Pioneers received All-CCAA recognition, most notably the CCAA Pitcher of the Year, Marissa Quintero.
- The awards for the Pioneers under Amundson's direction in 2025 did not stop at the conference level. Three Pioneers were named D2 CCA All-Region and two were named NFCA All-Region. Among the D2 CCA awards was Quintero being named West Region Pitcher of the Year.
Sua-Amundson's program can only go up from its phenomenal 2025 season with a strong group of returners expected for the 2026 season who have learned so much already from a coach who recently reached 200 wins.
