HAYWARD, Calif. - A CCAA series finale on Sunday against Cal State Monterey Bay was not in favorable for the Cal State East Bay baseball team, who lost 23-2 at Pioneer Baseball Field.
The Otters quickly got on the board with two runs in the top of the first off back-to-back solo home runs by KW Quilici and Jaden Sheppard for a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first, with two runners on base for the Pioneers, Aidan Morton hit an RBI single to drive in Luke Brown, putting East Bay on the scoreboard.
However, over the next four innings, CSUMB combined for 12 runs to lead 14-1.
East Bay got one more run on a solo home run by Danelle Daniels in the bottom of the sixth.
Even with the home run, the Otters continued their scoring output by adding nine more runs in the final three innings en route to a 23-2 win to close out the series.
- Daniels' home run was his fifth of the season.
- In addition to hits by Daniels and Morton, Luke Brown, Camron Grant and Amayas Lamar had one hit each on Sunday.
- Entering the game as a relief pitcher, Sergio Calderon had four strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched.
- CSUMB had a total of seven home runs in the game.
