CARSON, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team faced a tough challenge against No. 3 Cal State Dominguez Hills, falling 100-53 in a CCAA contest on Thursday evening at The Torodome. The Pioneers struggled to find their rhythm against the undefeated Toros, who demonstrated why they're ranked third in the nation with a dominant performance from start to finish.
Cal State Dominguez Hills set the tone early, jumping out to a 25-13 lead after the first quarter. The Toros' defensive pressure proved to be a significant factor, forcing 29 turnovers which they converted into 41 points throughout the game. The home team's offensive efficiency was on full display as they shot an impressive 51.9 percent from the field.
The second quarter saw the Toros extend their lead, outscoring the Pioneers 26-11 to take a commanding 51-24 advantage into halftime. Despite Cal State East Bay's efforts to regroup, the Toros continued their strong play in the second half, putting up 19 points in the third quarter and 30 in the fourth to reach the century mark.
- Lailah Carey scored a career-high 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
- Krista Sheaffer and Taylor Eldredge grabbed five rebounds each.
- Defensivly, Kelsey Valencia had two blocks and two steals
- Cal State Dominguez Hills showcased their depth with three players scoring in double figures, led by Nala Williams with 20 points.
- The Toros dominated inside, outscoring the Pioneers 60-28 in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 42-36.

"It wasn't the best start for our road trip as we did not play up to our standard. After starting the game off slow, we struggled to get any momentum going but we will look at the film and prepare ourselves for the next one."
