ATHERTON, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team kicked off its 2024 CCAA campaign with a resounding 3-1 victory over Chico State on Friday evening. The Pioneers secured the win in four sets (25-19, 25-18, 24-26, 25-20) at the Haynes-Prim Pavilion on the campus of Menlo College.

Set 1: The Pioneers maintained control throughout, leading by as much as seven points before clinching a 25-19 win on a decisive kill by Alexandria Gloria.

Set 2: After a tight start at 10-10, a kill from Lexi Pagani ignited a seven-point unanswered run, propelling East Bay to a commanding 25-18 set victory.

Set 3: In a nail-biting set, Chico State narrowly avoided a sweep, edging out the Pioneers 26-24 despite East Bay's late surge.

- Coco Ikpe and Mia Jordan contributed 11 kills each, with Jordan maintaining her CCAA-leading .380 attack percentage.

- Kale'a Kuamo'o anchored the defense with 22 digs, reinforcing her position as the CCAA leader in digs-per-set (4.61).
