HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay baseball opened its final homestand of the regular season on Friday against Chico State at Pioneer Baseball Field. The Wildcats won 12-3 top open a CCAA series.
The Wildcats got on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the first inning and added another run in the top of the second inning to lead 3-0.
With two runners on base for the Pioneers in the bottom of the third,
Luke Brown delivered a single to right center field driving in
Danelle Daniels and
Jaylen Hodges and cutting Chico State's lead to 3-2.
The Pioneers tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning on a
Luke Novitske RBI single.
The Wildcats' offense would explode for eight runs in the top of the eighth inning fo an 11-3 lead and added one more run in the top of the ninth en route to a 12-3 win.
- Novitske went 3-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Pioneers at the plate.
- Two of CSUEB's runs were scored by Daniels.
