HAYWARD, Calif. - The second CCAA match in as many days for Cal State East Bay volleyball took place Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Gymnasium. In four sets, the Pioneers lost to No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona, 3-1 (26-24, 27-29, 25-19, 25-19).

The Pioneers started the opening set on a 12-6 run capped by a service ace by
Megan Crecelius. The Broncos then answered with a 13-6 run to take the lead at 19-18. The two teams would trade points back and forth for the next ten serves. After the Pioneers got to set point after a bad set, but the Broncos scored the final three points of the set, needing extra points for a 1-0 lead after winning the opening set, 26-24.
Lexi Pagani had four kills in the opening set.Â

Although the Pioneers reached a set point opportunity at 24-20 after a kill from
Alexandria Gloria, the Broncos had four straight kills with three of them coming from Madison Novak to force extra points. Both teams traded points until 27-27.
Pi'ilani Carvalho broke the tie with a service ace and an unforced error by CPP clinched the set for the Pioneers at 29-27 and tie the match at 1-1.

As the Broncos neared a third set win ahead 23-13, Cal State East Bay went on a run of six unanswered points capped off by a block from
Kara Green and
Bella Marvin. However, CPP scored the next two points to win the set, 25-19 for a 2-1 lead.Â

In the fourth set, both teams were even at 11-11. Then, the Broncos scored the next four points and led for the remainder of the set, and didn't look back as they won the set, 25-19 and ultimately the match, 3-1.Â

- Mia Jordan had a team-high 13 kills and no attack errors for a .565 attack percentage. Through Saturday, she is fourth in the CCAA in attack percentage among qualifying payers.Â
- With 12 kills and 17 digs, Pagani picked up her sixth double-double of the season.
- With her 24 assists on Friday, Megan Crecilius climbed to ninth in Pioneer history for assists, currently with 1,393 for her career.Â
- Carvalho finished with three service aces.Â
- For Cal Poly Pomona, three players finished with a double-double, including Samatha Campion (18 kills, 15 digs), Sarah Ybarra (15 kills, 18 digs) and Caitie Mueller (49 assists, 26 digs).Â
