HAYWARD, Calif. – On Thursday evening, a four-game losing streak came to an end for the Cal State East Bay women's basketball team, as the Pioneers defeated Cal Poly Pomona, 58-46.
The Pioneers came out quick in the opening quarter, limiting the Broncos to three field goals, and finishing the quarter ahead 17-6.
Although CSUEB's lead grew to as much as 13 in the second quarter, a run of 14 straight points put the Broncos ahead 22-21. After the lead was relinquished, a 3-pointer by
Payton Sterk reestablished the lead for the Pioneers, and a pair of free throws by
Jaela Richardson gave Cal State East Bay a 26-22 lead which was taken into halftime.
Though quarter three was close, the Pioneers outscored CPP, 19-16 to take a 45-38 lead into the final quarter.
By limiting the Broncos to only eight points in the final quarter, one field goal, the Pioneers finished with a 58-46 win on Thursday.
- With 16 points, going 5-for-10 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, in addition to three free throws was Delia Moore.
- Richardson reached a double double after scoring 15 points and have a season-high 14 rebounds.
- With season-hgih seven assists was Grace Campbell.
- For CPP, the leading scorer was Breanne Ha.
