ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Trailing by 11 at halftime, the Cal State East Bay men's basketball team had a dominant performance in the second half to come out with a 66-55 win at Sonoma State on Saturday afternoon at The Wolves' Den.
Sonoma State led for a majority of the first half, with the final three minutes having the Seawolves outscore the Pioneers, 10-3 and take a 37-26 lead into halftime.
Cal State East Bay started the second half on a 9-0 run and with 10:03 left in regulation,
Chris James made a 3-pointer on the fastbreak to tie the game at 43-43 after a steal by
Garrett Pascoe set up the opportunity.
With the game being played evenly, and reaching a 51-51 tie at the 4:07 mark, the Pioneers followed with a jumper by James for a two-point lead. James' basket would start a 15-4 run to finish the game for Cal State East Bay, who outscored the Seawolves 40-18 in the second half to complete a 66-55 win on Saturday.
- Leading the Pioneers in scoring was Grady Lewis with 20 points, going 9-for-13 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the free throw line.
- Lewis also led the Pioneers in rebounds with nine.
- James and Payden White each had two steals and a block.
- For the Seawolves, Jaylen Wells had a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
