SAN FRANCISCO - On Friday, the final meet of the 2023 regular season for the Cal State East Bay men's cross country team took place at Golden Gate Park. The Pioneers placed eighth among 17 teams (8th of 12 NCAA Division II teams) in the men's 8k. Leading the Pioneers with an 11th place finish was
Cole McKain.
McKain's 11th place finish was completed in 25 minutes, 25.2 seconds.
Rounding out the top-5 finishers for Cal State East Bay were
Chas O'Bear (26:31.8),
Dylan Shubert (26:49.2),
Miles Worthen (27:15.2) and
Jose Garcia (27:27.6).
Friday's top men's 8k finisher was Daniel Hernandez from Chico State with a time of 24:42.0. The Wildcats also won the team competition with six runners finishing in the top-10.
With the 2023 season for the Pioneers wrapped up, next is the 2023 CCAA Cross Country Championships on October 21. Cal State East Bay hosts the championship meet at Quarry Lakes Recreation Area in Fremont. Start time for the men's 8k is set for 9 a.m.
