TURLOCK, Calif. – In more than the first six minutes of basketball action on Thursday, the Cal State East Bay women's basketball team scored 16 unanswered points against Stanislaus State. Although the Warriors would climb back and eventually come within a point of the Pioneers, CSUEB prevailed in CCAA action with a 73-63 win.
Delia Moore scored the first basket of the game 12 seconds in, and the Pioneers jumped out to a 16-0 lead. It would not be until the 3:34 mark of the first quarter that Stanislaus State got on the board. The early run set up a 22-8 lead after a quarter.
However, the Warriors scored 22 points of their own in the second quarter, and by halftime, CSUEB's lead was only four, 34-30.
After an even 17-17 third quarter, the first four points of the fourth went to the Warriors to come within a point, 51-50.
Moore then made a 3-pointer to start an 11-3 run to help the Pioneers pull away from Stanislaus State, and CSUEB finished with a 73-63 victory to snap a three-game skid.
- Moore finished with a team-high 19 points, going 7-for-17 from the floor with a pair of free throws. Three of her seven field goals were from beyond the arc.
- With a team-high eight rebounds for Cal State East Bay was Taylor Linzie.
- As a team, the Pioneers had 12 steals, four of which were from Abigail Cooper.
- Grace Campbell, Jaela Richardson and Linzie scored in double figures with 13 points, 13 and 10 respectively.
- Makayla Rose from Stanislaus State led all scorers with 21 points.
- Thursday's matchup between Cal State East Bay and Stanislaus State was the first between the teams that was played since the 2019-20 season.
