Multiple Pioneers Reach Personal Records in Cougar Challenge

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – On Saturday morning, the Cal State East Bay men's cross country team competed in the Cougar Challenge, held on the campus of Cal State San Marcos. As a team, the Pioneers placed 10th among 18 teams (sixth among 10 NCAA Division II teams). Three 8k personal bests were achieved by Cal State East Bay runners including finishes by Dylan Shubert, Aidan Singh along with the Pioneer debut for Matthew Morgon.
 
Here are some of the highlights for the Pioneers on Saturday
  • Cole McKain was Cal State East Bay's top finisher with a time of 25 minutes, 30.4 seconds.
  • Reaching a personal best 8k time was Singh, finishing in 25:50.0.
  • Shubert also ran his fastest 8k time as a Pioneer of 26:37.6.
  • Morgon made his debut with Cal State East Bay, finishing the 8k in 26:40.0. 
The next meet for Cal State East Bay is a return to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on Friday, October 7 as the Pioneers are scheduled to compete in the SF State Invitational. Start time for the men's 8k run is set for 3:30 p.m.
