SANTA ROSA, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay women's golf team traveled to Santa Rosa for the final regular season event of the 2021-22 season as they took part in the Sonoma State Women's Spring Invitational at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. The Pioneers won their second tournament of the year by 10 strokes. Four members of the Pioneers finished in the top-10 on the leaderboard - Jasmin Krishna finished tied for second, Arrianna Custodio finished tied for fourth, and Drishti Karumbaya and Sachika Singh both finished tied for seventh place.
In the first round on Monday, Custodio finished the round with an even par 72 which placed her in third place. Krishna finished the round tied for fourth place, along with Claire Shubin of Dominican University, with a 1-over-par 73. Karumbaya and Singh each shot a 3-over-par 75 for a seventh place tie along with six others. Caroline Berge shot a 9-over-par 81 which placed her in a 30th place tie along with Lavinia Romito of Holy Names. Cassandra Puspoki, competing as an individual, rounded out the Pioneers' contingent with a 14-over-par 86 for a 40th place tie along with Clarissa Burhan of Hawai'i Pacific.
In the second round on Tuesday, Krishna shot a 3-over-par 75 for a total tournament score of 4-over-par 148 for a second place tie along with Regina Parra of Holy Names. Custodio shot a 5-over-par for a tournament score of 5-over-par 149 for a fourth place tie. For the second consecutive day, both Karumbaya and Singh shot the same score of 3-over-par 75 for a total tournament score of 8-over-par 150 for a seventh place tie. Berge shot a second round score of 6-over-par 78 for a tournament score of 15-over-par 159. The score was good enough for a 28th place tie. Puspoki finished Tuesday's round with a 19-over-par 91 second round score for a 33-over-par 177 tournament score.
Krishna made even par on 26 of 36 holes played throughout the tournament. Singh had seven birdies, which was tied for second most among all golfers in the tournament.
"The ladies played amazing the last 7 days!", said Cal State East Bay head coach Alan Sue. "Between the two tournaments we faced 34 teams and beat 32 of them. We kept our postseason hopes alive and we plan to work hard and improve for [the CCAA Championship] next week."
Dana Urbankova of Menlo College won the individual title. The Pioneers won the team competition by 10 strokes over Dominican (CA) and Holy Names.
With the regular season concluding, the Pioneers will next hit the links on next Monday as they will take part in the 2022 CCAA Championship. The tournament takes place in Brooks at Yocha Dehe Golf Course.
