CSUEB Women's Golf Places Third at CCAA Championships; Two Pioneers Finish in Top-10 on Leaderboard

BROOKS, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's golf team wrapped up its trip to the CCAA Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday. The tournament was held in Brooks, California at Yocha Dehe Golf Club.

Drishti Karumbaya had a +4 (76) for a tournament score of +16 (232) which tied her for eighth place. Karumbaya led Cal State East Bay in total birdies with eight. 

Caroline Berge tied for 10th after a 6-over-par 78 in the third round for a 17-over-par 233 total score. Berge had one birdie throughout the tournament. 

Sachika Singh had the low score for the third round as she finished 3-over-par 75 and had the only eagle on the day for the Pioneers. Singh finished tied for 11th with a 18-over-par 244.

Jasmin Krishna had a 5-over-par 77 for a tournament total score of 19-over-par 235 which tied her for 13th and Arrianna Custodio finished 22nd after a third round score of 7-over-par 79 which gave her a tournament score of 27-over-par 253. 

"They put themselves in a position to win the event in the final round as they have done in most tournaments this season, said Cal State East Bay head coach Alan Sue. "We hung tight with San Marcos and were still within striking distance with six holes to go but a few missteps knocked us out of contention. I'm very proud of the effort and play of this team."

Morgan Sjoerdsma of Cal State L.A. won the individual title while Cal State San Marcos won the team competition for the third straight CCAA Championship tournament played. Cal State East Bay finished in third place among six teams.  

The Pioneers will now wait to see if they are selected for the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Super Regionals.
