Overview
The Pioneers will travel to Turlock to take part in the Tournament of Champions hosted by Stanislaus State. The Pioneers are coming off a split in a CCAA doubleheader against CSU Dominguez Hills on March 18-19. It will be the first time since 2019 that the Tournament of Champions is taking place in Turlock.Â
Three Players to Watch
Sarah Duran – The junior from Whittier, California is averaging .340 on the season and is current second on the Pioneers in hits (32) and third in RBIs (15).Â
Savannah Barchus – The sophomore from Keizer, Oregon had eight strikeouts in her appearances against CSU Dominguez Hills. She currently is second on the team in ERA at 3.03.Â
Madeline Ramirez – The senior from Chino Hills, California is currently second on the team in total bases (48) and first in doubles (9).
Last Series
In game one on Friday against the Toros, the Pioneers won a walk-off single to right field by Annelise Garcia in the bottom of the 10th inning to win 5-4. In game two, the Pioneers scored one run in the bottom of the seventh but it was not enough as the Toros won 3-2. On Saturday, in game one, the Pioneers' offense mustered only a run in the bottom of the first as the Toros won 4-1. In game two, Ramirez hit a walk off home run to right field to push the Pioneers to a 3-2 victory.
Around the CCAA
The Pioneers are currently in the sixth seed in the CCAA playoff chase. All ten CCAA teams will be competing at the Tournament of Champions in Turlock.
