Quintero Named West Region Pitcher of the Year; Gomez Earns All-Region Honors

Highlighted by Marissa Quintero earning D2CCA West Region Pitcher of the Year honors for the second consecutive season, Cal State East Bay softball standouts Quintero and Rylee Gomez both collected 2026 D2CCA All-West Region First Team recognition, the organization announced this week.

Quintero continued her dominant junior campaign as one of the top pitchers in NCAA Division II. The right-hander led the West Region with a 1.38 earned run average while also tying for the regional lead with 28 wins and five shutouts. She additionally paced the region with 24 complete games and ranked sixth nationally in ERA.

The junior appeared in 47 games this season, posting a 28-8 overall record across 228.2 innings pitched. Quintero struck out 141 batters while holding opposing hitters to a .193 batting average and helped anchor a Pioneer pitching staff that finished the season with a 2.64 team ERA.

Gomez earned First Team honors at second base after putting together one of the top offensive seasons in the conference. The junior started all 60 games for the Pioneers and led the team with a .379 batting average. Gomez totaled 77 hits, 22 doubles, four home runs, and 34 RBIs while leading the team in doubles and recording a .557 slugging percentage.

Defensively, Gomez was equally impactful in the middle infield, totaling 140 putouts and 79 assists while helping turn 10 double plays during the season.

Quintero and Gomez played key roles in helping East Bay finish the season with a 43-17 overall record and an NCAA postseason berth. The Pioneers spent much of the season nationally ranked and earned multiple wins over ranked opponents throughout the year.
