AUSTIN, Texas – Cal State East Bay softball standout Marissa Quintero was recognized for her success both in the classroom and on the field this week, earning 2026 CSC Academic All-America Second Team honors.
Quintero was one of just two pitchers selected to the Division II Academic All-America Second Team and was recognized alongside some of the nation's top student-athletes for her achievements as a kinesiology major and one of the premier pitchers in NCAA Division II softball.
The junior carried a 3.77 GPA while helping lead the Pioneers to a 43-17 overall record and an NCAA postseason appearance. In the circle, Quintero turned in one of the finest seasons in program history, finishing with a 28-8 record and a 1.44 earned run average across 228.2 innings pitched.
A two-time D2CCA West Region Pitcher of the Year, Quintero also struck out 141 batters and held opponents to a .193 batting average over 47 appearances during the 2026 campaign. Her efforts helped East Bay remain nationally ranked for much of the season and secure a berth in the NCAA Division II Championship.
The Academic All-America honor adds another prestigious distinction to Quintero's growing list of accomplishments this season, which also includes NFCA First Team All-America, CCA Third Team All-America, and D2CCA First Team All-West Region recognition.
