Box Score 2 HAYWARD, Calif. - It took 10 innings on Friday afternoon, but the Cal State East Bay softball team prevailed in game one with a 5-4 victory in a CCAA doubleheader against Cal State Dominguez Hills at Pioneer Softball Field. With the victory, the Pioneers snapped a five-game losing streak.
However, the Toros answered with a 3-2 win in the second game of Friday's doubleheader, as both team split the pair.
Game One – CSU East Bay 5, CSU Dominguez Hills 4 (10 innings)
The first game was tight the entire way with neither team obtaining more than a one run lead. In the bottom of the fourth, Gabby Rivera hit an RBI double to tie the game at 2-2. The Pioneers would score two runs between the fourth and fifth innings. The Toros tied the game at 4-4 and sent the game into extra innings. The two teams remained deadlocked until the bottom of the tenth inning as the Pioneers walked off with a run to win 5-4.
Game Two – CSU Dominguez Hills 3, CSU East Bay 2
The Pioneers scored a run in the fifth inning and added another in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as CSUDH took game two, 3-2.
The win went to Alyssa Olague for the Toros and the loss went to Anamaria Beard. Sarah Fukushima went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Madeline Ramirez went 1-3 with two RBIs.
CSUEB (15-12, 9-9 CCAA) and CSUDH (20-9, 11-7 CCAA) return to action on Saturday at Pioneer Softball Field with a CCAA doubleheader. Game one is set for 11 a.m., followed by the series finale at 1 p.m.
